The Ha & the processing have made a significant improvement.
I will use Ha on my next attempt at this galaxy.

Nice!

Thanks, Andrew. Jay GaBany did a version which appears to show stuff sticking up out of the plane of the galaxy everywhere. I still can't decide if it is real or illusory.

By the way, we're all subs 1x1?

All subs binned x1, thanks Steve.

What a stunner Rick!
The large version is spectacular to look at!
Wow a lot of time on HA! Must be hard to bring out these regions.
Cheers,
Justin.

The galaxy detail is top notch, but the faint background stars look a little weird.

Thanks, Justin. At that image scale with an object that's not particularly bright in Ha a lot of exposure time is needed to get the noise down.

Thanks, John. I noticed that but struggled to do anything about it. Sacrificing the halo did the trick but I wanted to keep it. Something I'll have to work on in future...

Dynamic range a bit so-so (a bit more light and shadow would make this a killer image)
But sublime res.
You did good

I'm with Peter on this. Its a spectacular image, easily one of the best around. One small area of improvement though would be the dynamic range as he points out. The look is a bit too transparent (or at least to what I am used to seeing in galaxy images). The dust areas etc are a bit too light. Perhaps toying with levels and curves or some previous processing step where stretching changed the dynamic range may get a gain here.
Greg.

Thanks for the feedback Peter & Greg. I've been mulling it over and have a couple of ideas to try. Will see what I can do...

Excellent Rick. The Ha was a good move, sharpened it up and bought out nebula in the galaxy.
