Now it slews faster, have not been able to check the sidereal rate, if it is any faster. Could check that tonight.

Brendan the Gemini Ascom check did go way over my head, so I looked for a simpler fix. lol
so does it slew closer to a know target - ie does it go near the sun, or where a bright star might be?

Yep, did it and all good. Thanks David. Did a cold start it moved almost directly onto the Sun, checking by looking at the scope shadow. Move it bang on, then asked it to find Venus. Almost got it bang on the finder cross hairs.

Thanks everyone for your replies on this thread, got me out of a pickle.

Where is this mount? The TZ offset for SA is +9:30 but it's DST now so +10:30

René says G2s will accept non-integral TZs via software drivers. Unless they've fixed the Gemini.net driver in the latest update it does not support non-integral timezones but drops the minutes.

There was no discussion as to whether G1s would accept non-integral offsets from Gemini.net if it was capable of sending them.

Andrew Cool has been asking about this for months since every time he'd download the settings from a PC the offset would change from 9:30 to 9:00.

Hi Andrew I have set the mount time zone to +10 as that is as close as I can get it to +10:30. The mount doesn't accept half hours. Thanks.

Excellent Lester...good to hear...and some very good advice from all especially H0ughy!

Lester...it might pay to persevere with Gemini ASCOM as you can then save your Gemini profile (aka your system settings) to a computer and you can re-import it if it all goes astray!

I think I did this with your Gemini and still have a copy ...although not sure what setting it has. Indeed I may have put in the wrong data?

Brendan, I have never hooked a computer to the Gemini and wouldn't know how to save settings etc. I have written in texta on the cover of the instruction manual; Losmandy Titan 50:1 . That should prompt me next time. Thanks.

Lester ...page 23 of the Gemini ASCOM.net manual, see image below. Just select "save Default" or "save profile".

"Default" is the default settings you have put in for your Gemini ASCOM panel. Thus if saved and uploaded, these are the uploaded as "default settings"...like "Default.guc". GUC is the saved file format!

"Save profile" ...basically the same except you can name the file like "LestersTitan50.guc"...so if you move the Gemini to a G11 or whatever you can name the file as something else aka:..."LestersG11.guc"!

Thus you can move the Gemini around and use on more than one mount.

"Apply" will write current Gemini ASCOM settings to the Gemini...the rest is pretty self explanatory. Gemini ASCOM is a life saver! Remember if you make a change in Gemini ASCOM and you want to save these to the Gemini computer you must use this "Apply" button.
