Ah Professor, your animal training skills are a credit to your evil genius...

And yes, electrical tape was all I used - I find that the cheapest cloth variety is actually best as it is thin and not too reflective.

Here's my result on ACrux. I tool a wide range of exposures and this is the worst I could get it. There is a slight N/S line, maybe, but that isn't actualy lined up with the cables (the camera is mounted sideways so that North is up).

So it certainly works, although it wasn't a big issue anyway - that Orion shot with a dslr earlier had cables and staps hanging in whatever direction

You'll be right Dave.

Scariest bit is removing the secondary mirror (for the first time anyway).

Just take it steady and all is fine

Have fun

Hyperstar optics for C14 SCT telescope

This is my new setup on a C14 faststar and a Canon 60Da DSLR. The C14 will soon carry a new Starlight Express M25C camera.

The Keyhole Neb. shot was 10 mins. unguided at 400 ISO and Omega Centauri was 10 seconds at 400 ISO, all at F1.9. IMHO, this beats an expensive astrograph. For test shots, I'm pleased with this. More to come.
