Well done Ray! Colours appear well balanced and the histogram confirms this too. I've come back to this image a couple of times today. Its quite striking. I must give it a go sometime. Looking forward to seeing more...

Nice work Ray!

That camera works a treat on this galaxy, tried several times with the dslr and achieved nothing like this.

Cheers,

Justin.

Hi Justin - thanks. the camera is certainly delivering the goods - the whole system seems to be working as designed, which is pleasing. However, the star sizes at this resolution are strongly influenced by seeing and it would be nice to try this with longer exposures in nice air to see if it will produce a "tidier" image. And I still have a huge amount to learn about colour

Regards Ray

Beautiful shot Ray, especially the reprocessed image. I think I may "retire" my 8300 chip camera for one like yours pretty soon...

Thanks Peter. For hi res with a fast short scope, the icx694 seems to work pretty well - probably suitable for up to about 1.2m fl. It can get images quickly and the ability to work with short subs is a major plus in my system - probably less of an issue with a top end mount though.

cheers Lee. FWIW, I would probably get a 674 if purchasing again. Most hi res type targets are pretty small.

regards Ray
