Looks like the whole thing is an insurance scam or similar. The "vendor" is trying to establish a valuation for an unusual item with the object of cashing in at some later date

Yep, that's the one I mean. They are all custom made, as is the mount (pre-set to the latitude)

You wouldn't want to close the roof on the scopes by mistake first night after buying would you!
Then again, if I did it was because I was distracted by the beautiful assistant

For interest.

The FET-200 takes about 9 months to make, Opt list them for US$167,450 (special order), the mount is included.

There is a 250mm version - I'd be guessing at maybe twice the FET-200, previously listed at US$250,000 a few years ago.

The FET-300 apparently took 3 years to make - one only ever made for a South Korean purchaser.
I wouldn't even try to guess the current price ! - Pick a number - or rather pick 6 or 7 numbers !!

Price includes a mandatory delivery and installation by Taks engineers - if they are prepared to come here.

$795,000 will likely buy you a dob with a mirror the size of your lounge room....

I was looking around this morning and came across the video for this scope.
A pretty interesting explanation about the whole kit.

Who the hell would want to pay that much for an achromat refractor? For that money one could buy a nice Orion, ASA or Officina Stellare astrograph a large chip CCD camera and a decent GOTO mount... But, when I win Lotto, a 24" F8 APO refractor or a 40" RC with a 2" square, 50Meg CCD camera would look nice...

Albeit you may consider it not worth the advertised price however the seller is probably basing the selling price on what it cost him to buy, sometimes people with money end up paying more than they should for items worth less than they should be.
