Interesting, I couldn't get IIS yesterday either from Tassie (Netspace/iiNet), it's Ok today so far. I don't believe it's a server issue, routing or DNS server problem would be my guess.

On the Whirpools Forum there is a post about a Domain Name Server (DNS) outage at www.planetdomain.com.

Ditto

But, I am with Ocean Broadband. Just show a little patience, it comes back on later so no worries.

Telstra, Bigpond, IINET and others had a few routing issues last week and couple of days. I checked that with a few server in the US that I though were down so they did some test from their end and they were dropped packets on this end (transient issue was with Telstra network). Nothing to do with the end servers. As Mike said if it was down the logs would show it and the phone would ring.

I've had long term on-going timeouts from IIS. 2 pages will load then the next 1 or 2 won't but the next one will. This is from both my work PC with almost unlimited band width and my home PC with pretty good bandwidth. It is the only site I use with the problem, never had it happen elsewhere.

I observed we could not get a HTTP response from the site on 1st June and again this morning.

The browser could neither access http://www.iceinspace.com.au nor by directly trying http://67.215.245.243

A traceroute was successful at the time using the IP address ....

HTML Code:
traceroute -i eth0 67.215.245.243
traceroute to 67.215.245.243 (67.215.245.243), 30 hops max, 60 byte packets

It's the DNS service (provided by PlanetDomain) that is the problem. They have been having problems, purportedly as a result of a DDOS attack.

Whois lookup on iceinspace.com.au says:
Name Server: ns1.planetdomain.com
Name Server: ns2.planetdomain.com

The PlanetDomain support page lists unscheduled service interruptions over the past few days. Also comments to this effect on Whirlpool...

Cheers,
Rick.

Thanks Rick,

That will be it.

I'm not sure how you can suggest only a few people are NOT having issues? There's been 10 people post to this thread and many hundreds that haven't. If the site is down for many more people, I get bombarded with email or messages on FB.

I'm not getting any glitches on bigpond in Sydney. It's most certainly an ISP or DNS issue that affect people using that DNS/ISP.
It was a DNS issue. I could not aceess IIS yesterday with my ADSL line (Internode) but had no issues on Telstra 3G.

Definitely a PlanetDomain issue. We've logged a support ticket, but if they're being DDOS'd then they most certainly know what the problem is

I just had an outage lasting about 1 hour-Internet Explorer could not find the site, but any other sites were ok-I'm with BigPond on ADSL. IIS is obviously available again now.
