Just out of interest how fast is your system? I am around f5.6 with the 4" and get halos on the bright stars. Do you use a fast system and do you use Astrodon filters? I am using Astronomiks which have been exchanged once already and note that your images don't have the halo problem mine sometimes do have. I wonder if it is the filters, the f ratio or if it is a combination of both.
Thanks Paul Are you using a reducer to get F5.6?

The TEC110 is F5.6 and uses a flattener as well. I find the Astrodons are quite good with reflections. Haven't much of an issue there. I generally find Astrodon overall to be of a high standard.

Greg.

Greg, I am using a reducer to get to 5.6. That I think is part of the problem with reflections. Might have to consider getting some Astrodons to sort this reflection issue.

I'd say so Paul Not 100% sure but I think reducers/correctors are harder on reflections than flatteners. I suspect flatteners only have very mildly curved lenses.

That's very nice Greg; nice tight stars across the whole mosaic, seamlessly stitched together! The processing / colours are superb, lots of detail there as well

Thanks David. I was very happy that the stars were tight. Good seeing and excellent conditions.

Thanks very much for the kind words Jeff. I am pleased with it. I intend to extend it on the next few trips as Vela sets for the year. I managed to get 2 panels imaged in one night. I think next time I would be lucky to get 1 1/2. So I'll try to get another 5 panels if I can.
