How did you go, Andrew?

Beautiful night on Friday, I was up at Mt Stromlo taking part in the Canberra Astronomical Society public night. Saturday night was great too.

Hi Jon, I am planning to come up to Stromlo when I can eventually drive again. I ended up out on the deck Sunday night. My mobility is almost non-existent at the moment so sat in the garage on Saturday/Sunday and made up a frame for the mount to make it mobile for a bloke with a busted foot and crutches.

Finished construction about 6pm and got into it. After a fair bit of learning and aligning my finderscope etc, then - WOW. Started out with the moon and then got some great looks at Saturn.

Stayed there till my breath was condensating and the dog was shivering

Ouch, what did you do to your foot?

To answer your earlier question, Andrew, I'm in Latham. How about you?

I'm out at Forde Jon. As for the foot, it is a very long story but...a guy in a Camry didn't like me and drove over it breaking bones that needed replacing by graft.

Bloody hell. Sounds painful. Also sounds like you might have had to do some time in good old ward 11B at Canberra Hospital.

I spent 10 days there a couple of years ago as they rebuilt my smashed up ankle out of bits of meccano. Crutches are not much fun. Although I can tell you all the best disabled car park spaces in north Canberra ;-)
