Hans,
I looked at this upgrade a year or so ago for my temma2 Jr. They replace the main body of the mount to fit the bigger motors so it's a major job. Basically a rebuild. But is it worth it? For a non goto maybe. There's a temma2 Jr on sale now which would cost less but the temma2M has real motors in it? The Jr motors have plastic gears. Up to you.

Thanks Robin. Plastic gears in the EM200 TEMMA Jr...interesting. I was looking at that ad on the classifieds and it did look like a good offer..not so much now.

Thanks to Brett & Mike suggestions of the FS2, it is plausible alternative I hadn't considered. I do note on the website there are three options on offer for the EM200.

I didn't mean to put any one off that offer. Lots of people have a Jr and they work fine. I had one and delved into what was going on in the background is all. I'm like that

Hans, I would not rely on Claude, once he sells the equipment, as far as he is concerned everything else is up to the buyer, the "youjack Theory" reigns supreme as far as he goes. With the hassles I had I ended up dealing directly with Takahashi, a much better and professional option I can assure you.

Hans,
Last year my EM-200 stopped working. I guessed that something was wrong with the controlbox as lights were not working. Claude gave me a name of person in Takahshi Japan to deal with directly by email. Very nice man and he even advised how to dismantle the box from the mount. I sent the box to Japan and they fixed it for a small amount. Freight was more than repair bill.
My suggestion, have a talk to Claude to obtain info to talk to Takahashi directly.
Must say freight to Japan would be costly.
cheers,
Peter

Thanks Peter, Did you pay Takahashi Japan direct for the repair or was payment done through Claude at AEC.

"Rant"

Was this aimed at me John? I don't want to get involved thanks. I don't care.
robin.

No, it was not aimed at you Robin, in fact it was not “aimed” at anyone. I just read some shallow comments & criticism about AEC, and just thought it was sensible to offer some possible reasons. But, obviously I am still new to this forum, and still learning. So, I am very sorry for taking the time to send what I thought was a sensible and thoughtful post. It is due partly due to my thoughtful nature, and also perhaps my education and experience. Obviously such posts are taken as “Rant”, which according to the dictionary is “To speak or write in an angry or violent manner” and “To utter or express with violence or extravagance”. I will refrain from sending such posts again, and in the future I will try to post in fitting more in line with the slant of threads, or not post at all. Slap my hand for that!!

Again, Please, Not aimed at you Robin, and I know, You Don't Care. But, if I had a business, and, prior to being given a chance to help, I read all this criticism on the thread about it, and then later, was asked to go out of my way to help out, I think I would be at least slightly turned off.

I paid through Claude, but you can pay direct. At the time paying Claude was easier because I hadn't yet discovered OzForex. To use OzForex you have to have the Japanese bank details but I doubt getting that would be a problem.

Cheers, Marcus
