Chris is your memory card door shut...mine has a series micro switch that powers off if open!

Also I have a small LED on bottom right of camera handle...this flashes when I power on ...is this happening?

eit:
Try a different battery.
Does someone know if these is a battery test point on the PCB?
Chris do you have a multimeter? Can you test the battery door and memory card door micros? This does sound like a "no power" issue.
With the small LED flashing when switched on...just want to see if this happens as you may have an LCD power problem not a main board power issue.

Brendan

My battery door has a switch as well. I came in late on the discussion so not sure if it was mentioned.

Also make sure the flash is discharged. There is a large capacitor for the flash and if its charged up and you touch it you get a massive and dangerous shock.

So part of the procedure has to be to fire the flash and then straight away take the battery out before it can recharge.

Ribbon cables are the biggest touchy point in these mods. They can be a tad delicate. Also when I did a 20D it had a couple of very fine wires that powered the LCD and I think another set that powered a circuit board. Don't know about a 60D but if they used that same setup it may be one of these fine wires that are easily broken off. I had to resolder one.

Did you photograph the camera being modded at every step so you can retrace your steps and compare the camera now to the camera then for differences? Perhaps a ribbon cable is in the wrong socket also as a possibility. But I would check that tiny fine power wires. The 20D had a blue and red one from memory.

Greg.
