here's a weather forecast to make you coast dwellers jealous. earlier this evening has been much the same btw.

wasn't going to let my injured back or the fact that the critical adapter to connect my SLR to my new VC200L has not arrived get in the way of some prime imaging time. decided to do an Eta widefield with the (relatively light weight) 200mm Nikon prime instead...

Hi all!!

I got home yesterday afternoon and there was thick cloud all over. I told my wife I was setting up anyway much to her bemusement and as the Sun set the clouds parted to reveal a sea of tiny jewels above me!!

After much angst getting everything aligned, computer gear working, finding the target - I thought Thor's Helmet would be good, God of Thunder, etc. - I managed to get about two hours of data. The only drama was a bit of flex seems to have crept into my system plus I forgot to update my Gain/Offset settings in EzCap from the default (new version of the software). However early indications are that the night was worthwhile!

Cheers,
Mario

Typical - by 4pm yesterday, I was feeling sicker than a wet dog. Went to bed at 5pm (much to the wife's horror!). By 9pm, she inadvertantly woke me up coming in to get something, so decided to water the flowers and have a look. SOME cloud, easily worth trying, but I was still feeling crook, so went back to bed. Woke at 4, and it was STUNNING, but too late to try setting up.

Tonight should be a ripper.

What an awesome night it was.
I made a start on the Antennae Galaxies and captured plenty of Saturn avi's. sadly BYE decided to save the best avi's as corupted avi's and folders of unreadable .bmps for some reason.
