I think I may have some idea of her logic.
1. Global warming is bad
2. Meteor crashes are bad.
3. Therefore both 1 & 2 being bad they must be related and one has caused the other.

Just like Daylight saving is causing droughts and recycling water will drain the oceans.

Simple!
