That is what I love about modern sci-fi, the CGI is just getting better and better, although the story lines where a little better in the 60's and 70's.

I don't know I still love watching Robinson Crusoe on Mars, Silent Running and Forbidden Planet, made in the days before CGI

I have two out of the three in my DVD collection. Haven't seen the Robinson Crusoe. I have a lot of early stuff, some going back a ways, the earliest being the Quatermass series. The storylines are great.

Saw it tonight. One hell of a ride. Loved it!
Just like the first reboot, suspect you could easily enjoy watching it a few times and keep spotting new things. And I'm not usually a movie repeat visit fan.

We also nearly lost our 6 week old son - the roof was covered but they hadn't entered this mossie net when we heard the "drip drip drip" of ants falling from the ceiling onto a plastic bag.
We had a saying "doing the impazhi dance" when you would accidently walk into the ant trail and then see them swarm your leg (they don't bite until they cover you - that way they can put the victim into shock)... once you see them you start screaming and throwing your cloths off while running away... very funny... although a little scary too...

Saw it yesterday. Its the best movie I have seen for many years. A sci-fi classic. I liked it better than the last 3 Star Wars movies which for me is saying a lot.
Its done well on all levels, plot, acting, drama, effects, action, suspense, relationships. It has it all.
I could see a few Star Wars type aspects incorporated as well which I liked.
Greg.

Enjoyed it immensely!
Really liked the gritty organic feel of some of the sets, particularly of engineering onboard the Enterprise.
Some of the dialog involving Spock is priceless..... : thumbsup:

Loved it. Lots of references to the old series too, Wrath of Khan, Genesis, etc.... Good character development too. Even the tribbles got a go. . CG was flawless as usual, great colors. Movie paced from one end to the other, over 2h in a blink, not a dead beat. Want to see it again.

This weekend now the rush is over, I reckon a wine or two beforehand will help the 'Reality Check' system. Bring it on...

Saw it last night. I really thought it was good and quality entertainment. Some emotional stuff included really set the scene in the later stages of the movie. Some reversals from the previous time line made it interesting too. One thing though, surely a device could be transported from space instead of parking the enterprise where it was parked and the device being deployed in the manner it was done. Definitely going into the movie collection when released on Blue Ray.

I agree Paul, it will be added to my collection. I thoroughly enjoyed despite some minor "poor dialogue" and a some minor plot holes.

Honestly... when the hell are they going to make that part of the standard design on all starships!!!... GEEZUSSS H CRISCO!!!
I'm personally sick and tired of the same cross-link this with that... if it were really that way, wouldn't we have flying cars with a coffee grinder that could dump the grounds into a fusion reactor to keep the car flying?
As for the movie... B- ... yes, I'm critical when it comes to movies... especially science fiction. You should hear my son... he's the real critic. Takes apart a movie scene by scene. He "liked" the movie, but was tearing apart the scenes like a lion at a "wildebeast feast".
As for JJ... dunno. I'm sick of him doing a Whedon...
