Many thanks to the good folks of Astrofest for organising this wonderful event. I had a great time, met some great people (new faces and old mates) and enjoyed great skies.
I managed to complete three sketches during the two clear nights I had. I've attached a pic of the piece I did of Andromeda galaxy. I've been wanting to sketch this beauty ever since my first view of it at the IIS Astro Camp some 5 years ago. Finally got a good transparent sky to do so. The field of view is some 3° of the sketch (more than twice the field of view I had through the eyepiece), and the sketch makes use of the entire A3 size sheet. I also managed to spot the star cloud NGC 206 within Andromeda - in the sketch it is the brighter spot on the left hand lobe. I love the thought that we see Andromeda through a curtain of stars that are entirely within our Milky Way.
The other pic is of me while sketching M8 the following night. It was taken by the hero of Astrofest, Ken Wishaw. Ken picked up the fluffy socks early on in the raffle draw!

Ken, many thanks for the pic and for taking the socks,
Alex.
