phw0ar! A woman after my own heart!
It's quite rare that anyone knows who Uaral is, let alone Ulver! I also like Empyrium.
Ulver is the pick of the bunch for me. There's a cold, harsh, stark, beautiful tranquility around their sound and a particular quality to their music which I can't quite put my finger on. Like Norsemen sitting around a campfire chanting hymns and singing songs of mysticism and mythology. Uaral has a much more romantic and classical feel which I also adore. At times, the music can be quite depressive.
All in all, both great bands who have produced some extremely beautiful music which evokes feelings across a broad spectrum of emotion.

Yes, Empyrium! I always listen to either Ulver or Uaral when driving through rainforest, such an amazing feeling. I'm also particularly fond of these guys http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bvm1AE1b2n8. Post rock at it's best!

Ah, yes, Explosions in the Sky; my sister's a fan.
I've seen their work used in skateboarding videos. : )

How's that for epic? It's been on repeat for a couple of days now.
Especially the anvil as an instrument from 1:58 to 4:30. Complete raw epic awesomeness. How inspirational!

Requiem For A Dream
Watched "Requiem For A Dream" this evening... completely forgot how good this film is/was (if you don't have a strong psyche, don't watch it, it's about the dark side of drug addiction)... one of the best soundtracks ever.
If you've never seen the film, I'm certain you would at least recognize one song, "Lux Aeterna" by Clint Mansell. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...ux_Aeterna.ogg
Absolutely awesome track.

Requiem for a Dream left me in a foetal position for quite some time.
Currently listening to the enchanting Medieval/bardish compositions of Ensiferum: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4NSFAu9IW4

Definitely that kinda movie... love Jennifer Connelly's bathtub scene. Simple, elegant, seductive, then BAM! ... the scream
Closing scene's are gut wrenching... chasing the dream.

You are the second person to tell me this... I guess I better. I understand that Mansell did the tracks for it as well.

Moon is absolutely brilliant.
Sam Rockwell's performance is incredible. If it's cloudy again tonight, I think I might get it out

Clint Mansell creates absolutely breathtaking music. If you really want a treat from him check out "The Fountain" soundtrack. I listen to it constantly and every time it blows me away.
