Metallica also did a cover of the song for their 1998 Garage Inc. album.

Metallica also had a seminal piece on 1985's Master of Puppets, called Orion.

Might go put it on. Back when Metallica was good. *sigh*

That is, actually, a cover of Rainbow's Stargazer. As much as I love Dream Theater, I have to say the original is so much better. Dio's voice is amazing. The final two minutes of the song shine like nothing else.

Also,

I've just managed to get a hold of Constance Demby's Novus Magnificat from 1985.

Can you say, "holy crap"?

This is a remarkable 50-odd-minute masterpiece.

Humayun

"In the Hour" 1971
an excerpt from the song.

"When darkness hovers and city lights take over
I am blinded to the words I am alone
It's useless to cry for a star in the sky
For the city lights tell me there's none,"

Damn light pollution.

French band M83

we own the sky

Each shade of blue
Is kept in our eyes
Keep blowing and lighting
Because we own the sky

Secrets from the winds
Burnt stars crying

Soft soft or cruel
Can't we change our minds?
We kill what we build
Because we own the sky

Secrets from the winds
Burnt stars crying

So many moons here
Lost wings floating

It's coming, it's coming now!
It's coming, it's coming now!
What's coming? What's coming now?
What's coming? What's coming now?

It's coming from the sky
It's coming from the wind

I was a little young (by a smidge) to get into the TV series Star Trek. It looks, dare I say a little camp. Please tell me it dated poorly!

Already posted 2 excellent video clips, one is a parody of "The Eagles Hotel California" called "Hotel Mauna Kea" the other is dedicated to the Bird Strike of July 2009 on Jupiter. Both sound and look just great.
