Easily the best skies I have seen in 6 consecutive years at the fest and I always enjoy the company of regulars and newbies alike. I would also like to thank the many who gave me invaluable assistance over the week +

I haven't processed any images yet, but here's one bit of candyfloss

Thank you to the Astrofest committee and everyone who made it enjoyable.

This was my first time to Astrofest and i will definitely be back for some more next year. Well worth the trek from Sydney.

I hope everyone got home safely.

Tony, I am still experiencing a series of electronic flash-backs and unexpected file corruptions...

Ok, here they are - the Veil Nebula sketched twice using different scopes.

The first is with my brand new 8" f/4 Kulali dob using an ES 30mm 82° and an NPB filter. This EP-scope combination gives me a 3° True Field of View, and the ENTIRE Veil just squeezes in! The second was with my 17.5" push-pull dob using a Celestron 23mm Axiom LX and an NPB filter - just the eastern section of the Veil here.

You will find a more extensive write-up on these sketches in my blog (link in my signature below).

I can only ever hope to try to do justice to this incredible object. I was not expecting to view it, ever! And yet Morton pointed it out to me, and well, WOW! Thank you Morton and Astrofest!

Mental.

Hey Alex,

Love those sketches.

The 8" Kulali is showing more detail than my 8" f/5 Newt. Clearly it's a very nice combination with the ES 30mm .

Heres a timelapse of Alex assembling his Kulali dob

...had to add in the music

I was out in town when the 30" SDM arrived. That would have been fantastic to watch.
