Looking at purchasing a 7D early next week from DWI,I need the cam corder feature for a project. My son has the 600D and when on a tripod with the added pieces give great footage when using the 70-200 F 2.8L
I think the 600D,60D,and 7D have the same sensor (may be wrong),but from the results I have seen from my son's 600D and Houghy's 60D,the sensor seems alot more sensitive than my 50D.
The frame rate for 600D is 30 fps and 60 fps,not sure if the 7D has a higher fps, anyone using the 7D for filming much here.I know a member here used it on a production film in the desert,in a car crash (and the 7D survived),just wondering what its like for more gentle use.I'll use this camera for birding and special projects.
We used it extensively for a few months for video work, but have since shelved it and use the Nikon D7000 for most work now.
The 7D can shoot good video *in specific conditions*.
If it is studio work, or fixed tripod work (no pans) and no fast moving objects in scene, and no need to follow focus, then it works quite well.
Outside those boundaries, it is a nightmare without some very expensive add-on equipment.
It is good as an adjunct to a real video camera, but I wouldn't want to have to rely on it as the only video camera for a shoot.
