Brisbane Seeing Conditions tonight... :( 14/2/2012

happy valentines everybody!

I've only started for a month and I've never seen the sky like this before ---

the sky was clear in the sense that there were no clouds, a biggie went past quickly an hour ago but that was it. But I could not see stars I normally see - the stars were unusually faint. Can barely make out orion's belt w/ naked eye! Used my binoculars for a while and didn't bother taking the dob out. The stars were twinkling furiously as well.

is this a case of "bad seeing conditions"? I've only seen it used when refering to lunar or planetary observation....

Yes it was pretty unstable last night before it completely clouded over. I was working on guiding and stars low to the east where jumping around all over the place. There may have been some hi level cloud about, it's often hard to see clouds like that, apart from what it does to the stars.
