Lagoon, Trifid, Omega, Eagle, Butterfly, M7, Southern Plieades, Saturn(Early evening).
Hows that for a starter ?
Anywhere up in the Scorpio, Sagittarius area is full of globulars and Nebulas. Check it out in Stellarium.

From Perth you can try to have a look to Cygnus constellation (try to see M29 and the famous star Beta Cygni). Try also to find M27 (Dumbell Nebula).

Hi Pat, if you can get a good view close to the northern horizon, M57 is a nice small planetary nebula. All the best.

ps Saturn is a must.

Hi Pat,

I've found SkyMaps to be very accessible for newbies like me. It's a monthly two-page chart of what you can expect to see in the sky, notable events for each day of the month, and a list of celestial objects that can be seen (1) naked eye, (2) with binoculars, or (3) with a telescope.

http://skymaps.com/downloads.html

Here's the direct link for this month:

Dave

+1 ... for a "quick reference", last minute, grab-n-go, no planning, SkyMaps is a great resource.
