'The Dish' - Parkes timelapse

over the weekend of the CWAS Astrofest and Malin awards, I setup some cameras to record timelapse footage of the Parkes Radio Telescope day and night.

here's the result, including notes on my images at the Malin awards (written more for friends and family who say i never let them know what's happening..):

Excellent writeup Phil, and I love the video (and of course all the shots you entered).

I was getting a bit dizzy with the dish going back and forwards all night long

Nice planning and execution as always - I'd expect nothing less from you

hmm.. i'm supposed to have sold some gear to fund upgrades , but timelapse video is giving me reasons to hold onto my 20D which i used for most of this footage, along with my new (ahem) 5DmkII..

This was actually a very unusual observing pattern for the dish.. there was more intereference than usual from all the visitors around on the weekend, and this 'side scanning' is more tolerant of that and so got some serious time allocated, although i don't really understand what they were doing. it's a bit too repetitive for these timelapse videos but not much i could do about it!
