This pic appeared in a recent 40D review - I'm keen to replicate this dovetail clamp mounting arrangement for my new DSLR under my C9.25. Does anyone know wher I could get such a clamp from, whether they're commercially available or DIY?
This looks simple enough buy a strip of flat probably 50 X 100 mm 5mm steel plate, drill holes to bolt to existing dovetail plate then drill hole and tap a camera thread through hole to hang the camera off.
You could make it up yourself for under $15 including the threading tool if you have the drills etc the steel plate could be brought from a scrap metal yard and a bit of spray on black matte paint.
One of the joys of being an amatuer astronomer is resolving equipment issues when commercial items are either too difficult or when they are ridiculously expensive to buy for what they are.
I have the DCM1 and looks to me like this is the same unit. Could be a DCM2 also the diffrence between the two is that the DCM2 allows for camera movement in x and y so you can offset it from the main telescopes optical axis.
