ISS pass melb and quick hello

hey everyone,
I still class myself as a newbie and thought id post here. (still learning)

my brother has a 8'' dob and an array of lenses, filters, strongish laser etc. i tend use the thing more than he does

to the point.. hehe

i havent posted much since i joined IIS but thought id ask if anyone else in melb caught the iss at about 9pm?

i caught the last few seconds when i went out for a smoke before it faded near crux. i thought it was an iridium flare since i havent seen iss fade like that before

first time ive seen it in melb. Seen many passes at home in eildon (where i might add has nice dark skys)

cheers all
josh

Yeah I saw it.

It faded as it went into the 1st part of the earth's shadow (penumbra) and completely disappeared from view in the full shadow (umbra).

It was moving pretty fast (low orbit)..I got it in my Scope, damn it was moving.

Couple of bright passes coming up - this Saturday early evening and a couple of days later, I recall. -2.4 mag almost directly overhead. But with shuttle attached, might be even brighter?
