When I did my 10D, which was a similar procedure, the hardest part was in attaching the new hot mirror. I kept getting the RTV I was using on the filter, and having to clean it off. Had I used a better adhesive, the whole process would have been much easier.
I would be hesitant to use CA, as it offgasses and could coat the optical surfaces as it cures. There is a reason it can be used for fingerprint detection. Maybe the cyano glue mentioned isn't really cyanoacrylate, but it sounds suspiciously so.
