Meade ETX 125PE

Hi, anybody got any comments or reviews on this Meade? I'm looking for a basic GOTO that for myself and my family.

I'm tossing up between this and the Nexstar 5".

I agree with a lot of posts here that a Dob is great and that will be my next purchase.

We had a Meade ETX 125 PE It's a great scope for a beginner. The GoTo teaches you where to locate objects which are difficult to see with the naked eye.

There are thousands of objects in the data base and once you know your way around it makes it easier when you eventually get your Dob.

Cool!! That's what we're hoping.

Can you see craters on the moon - bands around Jupiter or any nebulas??

Yes to all three questions.
When searching for "faint and fuzzies" however, make sure you keep your expectations realistic for a scope of this size.
Having said that, I think you will enjoy this crisp sights that this scope will allow you to obseve. I know I do!
Good luck with your purchase

Thanks! I was hoping to see all those!

I was tossing up between this and the Nexstar 5SE but think the Meade is just ahead in terms of focal length.

Just can't wait ....
