More Chamaeleon

The best views from my house are to the south, and my favourite targets are dark nebulae, so there's no better place to point than Chamaeleon. This is the Chamaeleon I cloud, apparently the closest star forming region to us. Lots of interesting objects - reflection nebulae, lots of dark nebulae, a couple of Herbig-Haro objects, some distant galaxies, and even a dog. I wasn't expecting to find a dog! More details and a bigger image are on Astrobin.

Quite amazing from the burbs of a near half million pop city.
Nice brown dust and yeah, how's that dog? Cool

Beautiful!

Chamelion lives in the glow from Brisbane CBD for me - but I have about 5 years worth of planned targets for dark sky site trips all in Chamelion!

Nicely done!

Thanks Mike.

This pic was 23 or so hours of peering through the light dome of Woden Town Centre. The blue background in the left lower corner isn't a subtle extension of the Ced111 reflection nebula. It's the Westfield Plaza reflection nebula!

Thanks Martin. I dream of a dark sky site and an observatory so I can do it properly, without any Westfield nebulae!
