Swan Reach Imaging telescope hosting and imaging subscriptions

Hello all,

We are pleased to announce that the operational trials for our hosting facility are now complete. The hosting observatory is fully automated to open and close at appropriate times.

Fees will be based on the foot print of your equipment and likely power usage. Internet, power costs and maintenance of clients equipment are included in the monthly fee.

Our facility is located at 34.5 degrees South and 139.5 degrees East. This means we provide a great overhead view of the centre of the Milky Way and all its objects as well as many southern objects. Our facility is located on the eastern side of the River Murray International Dark Sky Reserve.

Click here for our allsky camera and weather data.

Our skies are very dark and have quite good seeing. We have a lot of clear nights per year which amounts to around 79%. Please check out the Keograms page on the above site.

If you are interested receiving pricing including our terms and conditions please email on swanreach5354@gmail.com or send a PM to me.

We look forward to receiving our first clients.

Just a bit of an update.

We are pleased to announce that in the coming month we will be offering subscriptions to several imaging systems we have at Swan Reach Imaging. On offer will be a subscription to an Orion Optics AG12 with ZWO6200MM and Astrodon filters. Another system will be an FSQ85 with ZWO 2600MC. A third system will be a Takahashi Mewlon 250 with ZWO2600 MM. And finally there is likely going to be an Askar 200 with ZWO6200MC.

We are yet to finalise installations and finalise our subscription pricing. Though it will be very affordable for 6-10 subscribers.

We installed another of the subscription scopes today. Commissioning will take place over the next week or two and then it will be up for subscription.

In the attached image you can see the 250 Mewlon in front and the OOUK AG12 with ZWO 6200MM behind. If you're interested in subscribing to either system please let me know via PM.

Swan Reach Imaging is pleased to announce another system available for subscription or rent.

This system is an FSQ85 with ZWO2600MC with Optolong UV IR cut and Optolong L-extreme filters (we have since the attached image was taken added a filter wheel to house the filters.)

This type of imaging makes life very simple. You image in colour through the UV IR filter and then with the L-extreme to produce detailed and easy RGB colour images or whichever target is visible in our night skies.

The attached images are examples of what you can expect from this system.
Contact us via our email of swanreach5354@gmail dot com or via PM for subscription details.

Just letting you know that we are completely unaffected by the floods going down the Murray River. We are about another 40 metres above the river at present. There is absolutely no chance of us getting flooded.

Have a great day.

If you have been holding off with us hosting your equipment, we have decided to announce a first year only hosting fee of $600 per month for scopes up to 14" in diameter at Swan Reach Imaging. That gets you lots of clear night per year (more than the eastern sea board), very dark skies (21.98) and with very good seeing on a regular basis. On top of that you get your equipment serviced and maintained by us, you have your own private VPN and VLAN to ensure your data is your own.

It's a great deal so jump on in and contact us via PM, email or on our FB page.

The data sets currently being made available are:
NGC1977 (running man)
M78
NGC2626

Click on the links to view my version of the images. This data finished well in the David Malin Awards 2022.

Our price is $50 per set or $90 for two.

If you would like to purchase this data then contact us via PM or our email of swanreach5354@gmail dot com.

An exciting addition for subscription or rental is this 250mm Takahashi Mewlon with ZWO 2600MM and filters. The scope has a Moonlite rotator focuser to allow nice framing and choice of guide stars. The attached image was done by Jarrod Koh and shows the potential of this excellent scope. If you are interested in subscribing this scope with a group of 5 or more or just want to rent the scope please contact us via PM, or email of swanreach5354@gmail dot com (please the decimal in place of dot). Our rates are very affordable and the best in Australia.

Hello all,

it's been a few months since I posted any news about what is going on at Swan Reach Imaging.

In terms of hosting we have a new customer with an Orion Optics UK ODK16, which we are in the process of installing.

We also have subscriptions available for our own equipment and there is quite a bit of interest in that regard. Subscriptions available are as follows:
  • 1 x Orion Optics UK AG12 with QSI683 and Astrodon filters.
  • 1 x Orion Optics UK AG12 with ZWO6200MM with Astrodon filters.
  • 1 x Takahashi Mewlon with ZWO2600MM with Baader filters.
  • 1 x Takahashi FSQ85 with ZWO2600MC with L-extreme filter and clear filter for RGB imaging.
  • 1x Askar 200 with ZWO6200MC with L-extreme filter and clear filter for RGB imaging.

Subscriptions start at $400 per month for an individual rental or $90 per month per person for a group of subscription.

Or if you have your own equipment and want it hosted we are offering a red hot fee of $600 per month for scopes up to and including 16" in diameter. with no setup costs.

Now we think those prices are pretty damn good, so if you have been holding off, now is the time to jump in. We have some of the clearest skies in Australia and with great seeing.

Contact us via PM here, via our FB page or via our email of swanreach5354@gmail dot com

For those that might have missed it, here is an image of the aurora on the morning of the 24th of April. Look how bright that thing was, there is no processing done to this image.

It's been a busy time out at Swan Reach Imaging with a couple of clients moving their gear into the observatory but I just wanted to show you a preliminary image from an RC14 which is on site now. The resolution is fantastic of this often imaged target known as the Devil's Mask. I am really excited for the customer imaging prospects.

If you are wanting somewhere dark to place your gear at an affordable price, why not drop us an email or a PM. We still have room for more equipment and want to share our skies with you.

Update time

There is some news from Swan Reach Imaging. In a month or two we will be putting up two new imaging systems for subscription.

The first up is a 180mm Askar with ZWO2600MC. It gives a lovely wide field of view. It has replaced the FSQ85 system. We have found that ultra wide field is very popular with subscribers. We already have a 200mm system being subscribed but wanted to provide another system for potential subscribers. Rental is $400 AUD per month for individual or group subscription. The system runs on NINA via advanced sequencer. All you do is connect the equipment and set it to run for the night and collect data in the morning.

The second piece of kit is going to be a 16" RCOS with ZWO6200MM and Astrodon filters. It will replace an AG12 system we have currently. We hope to be taking delivery of the scope in a couple of weeks and then by early next year we will have this system available for subscription. This will give any serious imager a great scope to capture galaxies and planetary nebula at very high resolution. Pricing on this system will be a little more than our standard systems. It will be available for $500 per month. Again it will be NINA operated with advanced sequencer.

We will give you training on both systems on how to change the targets you want to image if you have never used NINA before. The way we have set up NINA it will be data mining at its best. If there is a weather abort, it will wait until the abort is over and then when the roof opens again it will go back to work on the first target or if it that is too low it can send the system off to the next target.

But wait that is not all. We still have room to host your system if you have one. Hosting is very cheap at $600 AUD per month for systems up to 16". This fee includes power, internet and servicing of your equipment.

June Update

This system is now coming on line and will be rented from July for 3 months. After that we will have a list of those wanting to rent a 16" RCOS. It will be first come first served. This scope often guides at 0.40" RMS per pixel. It is a great scope for doing smaller targets like galaxies, planetary nebula and smaller emission nebula.

The scope is fitted with a ZWO 2600MM with a full spectrum filter set.

Our rates for this scope are very affordable at $550 AUD per month with a minimum rental period of 3 months.

The other systems status are listed below:
  1. Askar 200 (rented)
  2. Askar 180 (rented)
  3. AG12 with 6200MM (rented)
  4. AG12 with 2600MM (pending repairs, available for rent in a couple of months)

If any of these systems are of interest please contact us for information.

We also still have room to host in our sheds. Our hosting price is one of the best here in Australia.

For all enquires please email to swanreach5354@gmail dot com or PM here.

A quick update for what is happening at Swan Reach Imaging.

We still have plenty of room available for hosting equipment in our sheds. Our hosting fees are very competitive for both commercial hosting and domestic hosting (there are different prices for each service).

Our rental systems are almost all booked out at present. Some may come up for rental in the next few months, whilst others are booked out for sometime.
  • Askar 200 (rented)
  • Askar 180 (rented)
  • AG12 with 6200MM (rented)
  • AG12 with 2600MM (pending repairs, available for rent in a month or so)
  • 16" RCOS with 2600MM (rented)

If you are interested in either having your equipment hosted or renting one of our systems please contact us on swanreach5354@gmail dot com.

Clear skies to you all.
