Considering the toUcam...

Hi guys tis me again. I'm wondering if I should consider buying a toUcam, as i want to get started in some astrophotography, but am unsure whether I should get the toUcam pro or the toUcam pro II. The toUcam seems to be the webcam to get for astrophotography. I'm thinking that the toucam pro II is the better of the two, but am not sure.
Also where can i pick up an adapter for the webcam and scope? Is it relatively inexpensive? Please enlighten me

My scope is the Meade LX90 8 inch.

I didn't know there was a Toucam Pro! I only know of the Toucam Pro II which is the one I have. The 840k model!

Anyway, you'll have a lot of fun with it!!!

The toucam pro is the 740K. Both the 740 & 840K are discontinued; unless you find them second hand.

Definitely get the Pro II (840k)

A very inexpensive way to get into astrophotography.

I started out with the Celestron NexImage but moved on to the ToUcam and can definitely recommend going with the latter, although the NexImage works quite well.

It's a personal preference thing. You will need to attach a 1.25" adaptor so you can slide the ToUcam into your eyepiece holder for prime focus imaging. You can make your own or buy one.

I'd get the ToUcam 900nc, which is the newer model, or the 840k. Both will do a fine job for imaging the planets, moon and sun through your LX90.

You can get them with adapters from telescopes-astronomy, or get an adapter on its own from the same shop, or from mogg adapters.

There's a lot of ToUcam or ex-ToUcam imagers right here on IIS so you'll have plenty of people able to offer advice and suggestions. Good luck!
