Is it possible to use Ha and SII filters as IR planetary?
Given that (broadband) IR planetary filters range from 650 to 850 nm, and Ha and SII are both within that range (656 & 672nm), can NB filters be used for planetary IR?
In the same vein, I'm curious whether an RGB image of the planets look any different if constructed from a 7nm sampling centered around the red, green and blue frequencies? IOW, using hypothetical narrowband RGB filters? I guess analagous to how white LED's construct what looks like white light by blending 3 pure wavelenghts, ie, the spectrum is not continuous.
I'm guessing less light would make it very seeing dependent, but I wonder if the narrow bandwidth may reduce chromatic aberration, and ?possibly? atmospheric effects?
Anyone hazard a guess?
