My lodestar is gathering more hot pixels and seems to be less sensitive than it used to be. Before I upgrade is there any one in Aus that could sell me a new guider cable so I can try that first? I noticed the end of my cable has been bent a bit.
Cheers
Graham
Hot pixels are unlikely to be a cable problem, especially if it's the guide cable and not the USB cable. A dodgy USB cable might cause power issues that generate odd symptoms, but probably not consistent hot pixels (I assume they're not moving around?)
Fair enough. I could try a different USB but they are consistent hot pixels. I think it may be that the chip is just aging.
I have a ZWO 120mm that I could try in the OAG.
I use PHD2 with my Lodestar (on the C11 @f10 for spectroscopy).
There are some hot pixels but the PHD dark routine seems to fix them pretty well.
(I've also used the TS clamp on the Lodestar since day one....)
I went back and tightened all the cables and re -did darks and it is back to how it used to be thankfully. I wondered if a cable tension was causing some issue with the USB cable?
