Tonight I pulled out my dob for the first time in a few months and decided to have a look at the moon. I noticed that the shadow of the moon was on the right side while looking at it by eye, but through the scope it was reversed (the shadow on the right side). Is this how it is meant to be when looking at it through a scope?

Yep that is normal for a DOB. is the cas with many scopes. Some show a back to front image like looking into a mirror. Others show a right to left flipped image. You will also find it odd to get adjusted to moving the scope from right to left opposite to what you think. You will get adjusted to it... Enjoy your scope... Dobs are really good

It's because of the path of the light rays as they are being reflected off the mirrors. Perhaps if you search using terms like "Light path in newtonians" or telescope light ray diagrams you'll see there is a cross over of the light rays at the point of focus, so as it comes out through the eyepiece it will appear flipped over. Different configurations of mirrors and lenses will flip it different ways.

Odd number of reflections = mirror-image (left-right reversed)

Even number of reflections = not mirror-imaged, though possibly rotated 180 degrees,

In your dob the image was rotated 180 degrees.
