a little bit of lightning from Home 26 November 2012

I took this series of shots tonight from the front veranda at around 10pm when the front of storms came through. not really a pretty view with the power lines, but hey you work with what you have - its a pity we didnt get any rain, but then the lightning wouldn't have been visible.

canon 600D manual iso100 , 20second shots. 18mm lens

image is a stack of 50 shots.

beautiful to watch

Wow, I'd never thought about stacking the shots. I love it.

How'd you keep the clouds from blurring over the 20 odd minutes?

yep it was only a flesh wound. quite a number of years ago, i think when my daughter was one or two we had a series of storms that came through - in one night there were over 20000 strikes air to ground in the space of an hour. I have never been so frightened as that night - i even stayed away from the windows and anything electrical in the house. from my place to the north east is a major substation just the other side of the uni. there were lots of green and orange strikes that night there.... I had a film camera then and wasnt game to set it up either

So tempting to make some wise cracks, but I had better not.

Congratulations.

Nice work Dave

Certainly was busy out your way. I must have a go at lightning photography, December is usually a good month out my way for lightning.
