Supernova SN2012fr in NGC1365

HI guys,
this SN is quite bright at the moment. I havent seen any long duration colour images of this great galaxy and its new SN yet, other than a few on the NGC1365 thread in Astronomy and Amateur Science, ( http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/s...ad.php?t=98549 ) so i thought i'd spread the word a bit further and prompt a few of you to try.

Attached is my 17 minute attempt during a break in my own SN search program last night as a guide.

Excellent Greg

I might just hammer the Fornax Cluster next clear night, may as well record it while it is around

Hi guys,
thanks for your kind comments. Weatherzone images show that we are mostly stuffed for another day or two...grrrr. It will be great to see some colour images of this one. I'd try myself, but I usually end up feeling guilty of neglecting my SN search program and worrying about the possiblity of missing a new one if I spend extended time imaging one galaxy for a couple of hours.!!...stupid I know, but...

Very nice image Greg. Would love to image it myself but the weather here is crap and the eclipse interferes next week.

Cheers

Steve

Atleast you have promising weather.
Brisbane been positivley crap for the past month. The rare fine days are marred by strong smoke haze.
Sigh.
This has been on the top of my imaging list for awhile now - just havn't had the weather to get out and image it

Great discovery btw.

You going to the farm this weekend Greg? I'll have a crack at it if we get a big enough sucker hole but the AP focal length won't do it any justice.

Hi Mark,
sorry no, Pat n I can't get there this weekend, and the following weekend we are also booked for a work function on Saturday 17th. We will try for Sunday 18th instead.
I am keen to get the MN61 and ST2K combination under dark skies for NGC1365 too.
Also Pete n I were planning to go up on Saturday 24th too..do a bit of work.
