Check out my new toy for family snaps

I am only going to use the SLR for astronomy because by the time you buy the lenses and the filter needed to use for terestial shots with a moded DSLR it was getting very expensive...so I picked up a nice portable Canon digital camera with the 3" LCD screen...the screen is impresive...check it out.

The Olympus is nice but really why bother with Waterproof....photo's in the rain...maybe....lol

I am a canon nut.....I had a little Canon IXUS V 2MP and yep you guest it...sold it to my dad...lol

Its a bit like Mobiles...I like the Nokia's and once your familiar with the functions you find the other brands just simply stupid.

P.S...Mike...I got a LOWEPRO pouch aswell...$17

NO viewfinder !

How long before you complain that your new camera has no viewfinder, I wonder?
I am looking for another digital camera with a better zoom than the ones I have now but even though I can get up to a 10X zoom ( I want a compact camera) they do not have viewfinders! Unbelievable, the large screen is no use in certain outdoor bright light situations.
Maybe I can use my Telrad as a viewfinder.

Just be careful of the dreaded canon E-18 error.

True....no view finder but I never used the view finder with my last camera...anyway I cant stop looking at the size of this 3" LCD....no need to download images just show them on the screen.

But like you said a view finder may be needed in some cases but I never found it useful.

Tell us more about your cameras and what is the "newer version" .

I will look them up on the web but would like your impressions.
