2012 LG11 - new Near Earth Asteroid

Hi to all,

a week ago I caught a new NEO asteroid. It was a result of pro/am and international cooperation as well.

I describe the discovery here: www.skaw.sk/ennewspage.htm

Congratulations Stefan – I enjoyed reading about your exciting discovery on your website!

I assume that the animation on your website shows a field of around 10 arcmin x 10 arcmin and not the full 70’ x 70’ FOV?

Cheers

Dennis

Dennis thanks for your kind words !

And yes you are right about FOV - animation in the article is only a tiny part of the whole image.

I use a 19" monitor - and if you divide the whole image to the stripes you can see on the screen, to check the entire image means to go down 2 x down and 2 x up, which takes at least 30 minutes time.

yay for you, Stefan! Thanks for sharing!

Only then I realized what happened - I felt the satisfaction that many hours I spent in front of my PC monitor were useful. Although the asteroid escaped from detection software, it was caught by me. I added 4th Near Earth Asteroid to my "collection" which I started seven years ago. This time, an estimated 600-800 meters sized rock, which would obviously cause problems if it directed into our atmosphere.
