Thumbs up MY BEST JUPITER and GANYMEDE - teaser from the "night of 35 avis"!

Hi All, had a good session last night - first chance and first decent seeing in a very long time for me. Around 2 hours (Dennis's marathon has pipped me there though) and a whopping 35 avis to process.

Started the evening with 6-7/10 seeing and as there was lot's of moon action I used the 2.5 powermate. I was using the YUY2 codec available on the 900nc webcam. Seeing deteriorated steadily to around 5/10 but then came good up to around 8/10 after midnight so I swapped to the 4x powermate. Unfortunately, as I had to swap to power on the lappy the codec defaulted and so I wasn't gathering as much data as I could have (then again my hard-drive would have filled up quicker).

I've got a couple o' days at least of processing ahead of me, but at least some quality to motivate as well. Attached below are a couple of "teasers". Just straight registax processes at 2.5x and 4x powermate scales and LR deconvolutiuon in Astra Image 2. I'm pretty happy with the result so far .

This is the first time I've definitely captured detail on Ganymede so I'm stoked about that

cheers,

ok, davo request time, can you please email me tiff file output from registax with wavelets settings at 1.0, 1.0, 5.8, 13.8, 29.3, 45.5 and then one at 1.0, 1.0, 5.9, 25.3, 50.2, 79.8

these are the settings i use. I would then like to try my 2x1.1 ME deconvolution on it to see how it goes/

I have been hammering wavelets which comes out looking over processed, but the 2x1.1 me deconv, cleans it up.

oh yes, from the 4x please.......

Thanks Mate! Ganymede is just in there all natural like, no later additions as often is required say with the moons of Saturn!

davo, you're a hard task master.... I've still got 33 avi's to do a basic process on AND I've still got to get you those screen shots with WCTRL and the 900nc... I'm lagging, and the list of "things to do" around the house that my wife's been preparing for easter is spooling off the printer

and your point is

tell your wife that the list of jobs can be filed beautifully as it spools off the printer into a shredder. I will support you of course, from 1000km away!!!

Hi Robert

OMG - that x4 Powermate image is simply sublime - I would swap my 62 avi's from the 10/11th for that single image of yours. The detail in the Galilean moon is nothing short of extraordinary. Great work mate.

Cheers

Dennis
