Not being too good with handy man type tasks (my previous best was a shelf in a laundry) I decided to do some paving. We have a good space under the deck that could be used a lot more often so I began!
The ordering happened a week ago.
The digging began on Thursday evening - lots of loads!
Road base and sand went down on Friday evening - compactor and all!
My mate Justin assisted on Saturday and Sunday to lay and do the fiddly things......those brick drop saws are awful machines, fortunately I only had to cut 25 pavers, lost no fingers.
I followed the direction from Centenary Garden Supplies DIY videos to the letter of the law (I did spend more time making sure everything was spot on).
I must say I am very impressed with the job - still a few pavers to go at the bottom of the stairs but all in all very 'manly'!
Wow! That's awesome. I need to redo the paving on my driveway. That's giving me some incentive. Did you use a road base layer (the blue stuff). What's the bright line in the middle you're using to level the sand?
Hi JJJ
No I sourced all the stuff from Centenary Landscaping Supplies - a friend recommended them so I went in and they were really good - the only description of the pavers I have are.....Euro Slate Prague (charcoal).

They look very familiar.
Yes, I used road-base (50 mm) over compacted earth. The wheel barrow is on it in pic 2. I compacted the life out of it too!
The bright line is a screeding rail - you can use anything that is long and strait - I just went to Bunnings and got these (I think just aluminium 25 mm).
Good luck with the driveway!

Great tips - thanks. How did you compact? Did you use water?
