NGC 3603 and NGC 3576 in Carina

Hi all
I processed some more omages I took early in the morning of the 25th Feb.
Its NGC 3603 on left, and NGC 3576, in Carina.
2x 5 mins ISO 400, Modded 350D, 10 inch F5.6 newt. Baader UHCS and coma corrector. All processing including dark subtraction was done in Iris and this time Iris did a good job, pulling the faint arcs out of the darkness.

Hey, nicely done Scott.

I really hope a couple of you guys get together down there and do a side by side processing exercise with IP and Iris and any other handy prog (Maxim, Pixinsight etc). Would make a nice review article.

Nice work again Scott....it's just a shame the Jpeg compression loose's all the detail.....maybe you should upload the image on your web space and post the link.

Hey Scott

That is really nice. Well Done.

Do you think that the UHC-S filter is as effective with a modded camera as it is with a stock camera?

cheers

Hi Tony
Yes I do, however I think it will be even a little better once I get the Baader UV/IR filter. The sky background is somewhat red (as expected with a modded camera) but Im thinking the sky might be just a little darker as some IR light might be getting past the UHCS's lower cutoff limits, I have read that a UV cut filter is recommended. It should stop any star bloat when using my 50mm lens too.
I get about the same image density on an ISO 400 ten minute shot with the modded 350D as a ISO 1600 ten min. shot with the unmod. 300D,(also with UHCS filter so, yes, with red emission nebulae about 4 times more nebula light with the UHCS fitted.
Its not so improved when shooting blue nebulas. I had a shot at a blue faint planetary, it looked no better on the modded camera as the old 300d, though id like to test it further on blue PNe's
On ISO 1600 the Eta carina neb is starting to over espose much past 200 seconcs with the mod. camera. That would require over 15 mins with the 300D.
I could have specified for a Hutech 350D with their IR cut filter installed over the CMOS but I went for the clear glass option as Id like to get into Infra red imaging one day.

Hi Scott, didn't know you did this image. Looks pretty good. I love the red color you have captured against the very dark background sky.

good one!

Thanks.
Yes I did this almost as an afterthought. I saw this little patch of nebulosity on my 50mm lens shot and took some images. It didnt look that great on the RAWs so I left it a while but was pleasantly surprised to get it to show as much detail as it does.
