Viewing in broken hill.

hello all,

Carly and i are looking at heading out west somewhere in early Nov to do some viewing and photography. Is anyone situated in broken hill or near there? Dubbo? as we don't know the area that well. Would be good to maybe catch up with some fellow observers or find out where some good places to camp and observe would be.

Thanks in advance,
Michael

Quark & Kevnool (Trev & Kev) would be best placed to answer this, but as a former resident of the area I can say you won't have any trouble finding good places to observe from in the Broken Hill region. Silverton is good, well away from the light bubble of the Hill but only a short drive. Good camping facilities. If you wanted to go further, White Cliffs is great (bitumen road). Interesting place too - opal mining etc, lots to see. There's a caravan/camping park there.

Always gotta watch out for wind and find a bit of shelter. I don't think dust is a worry with the present green growth up there!

Cheers -
