Centaurus A

First attempt at Centaurus A. I did post a picture in the beginners forum but I have worked a bit harder to bring out more detail.

Details
Scope: 8" Newt
Mount: EQ6
Camera: unmodded Canon 400D
ISO1600
Exposures: 25x60secs unguided
Stacked in DSS and processed in CS3

Cropped version

I'm fairly happy with the detail I have in the dust lane despite the short exposure length

Hey Dan,

Well done, lots of detail. You could probably stretch it a tad more and make the colors jump. I suspect that you focus was just slightly off. You may be able to sharpen it a little using an unsharp mask.

The eggy shaped stars can also be corrected with a photoshop plugin "star rounder". Other than that, a very pleasing result.

A good photo Dan.

For such short exposures you have brought out a lot of detail.

Ross.
