iPhone and ipad apps

A naive question. If you have purchased an app for your iPhone, can you download the same app to your ipad and not pay again for it?

Allan, you should find that most apps you have bought for the iphone will load from itunes to the ipad and vice versa, most of mine did, where there are specific HD ipad apps, you may need to buy the ipad version to get the full screen app. In my experience most of the iphone apps that transferred across to the ipad display at reduced resolution, but some can be zoomed but with the original resolution and tend to look a little chunky. Im not sure whether all apps are useable cross platfor though, someone else may be able to clarify further.

Thanks for that Phil. I did a little browsing and the questions that I have are in regard to the resolution for the ipad with such programs as StarMap Pro and sky Voyager. i.e. do they translate well across to the ipad as I think Im going to take the plunge and get an Ipad2.

I know when I bought voyager for the iPad it automatically loaded as well on the iphone at the next sync. Whether they transfer the other way at HD is really up to the software developer. From memory my original star map pro transferred across as HD on the iPad.
