Unlocking your mobile phone

Has anyone used $1.79 or $2.95 pay by paypal mobile phone unlocking service on Internet? This is very cheap so I wonder if it works?

I have simple Samsung mobile phone that is locked with Vodafone. Even though my contract expired long time ago they want $50 dollars to unlock it or something like $29 if I do it online. Had one with Optus before this one and after 6 months they unlocked it for free so I can use any sim card.

I am getting new sim card from iinet and would like to use this phone, but i have to unlock it first.
