Saturn am Feb8 - not the storm side

Clear sky and a mild sea breeze gave reasonable seeing for a 30 minute window. It was nice to be able to put together an image without excessive deconvolution. Not much storm visible, but this planet is very beautiful from any angle. Thanks for looking. Ray

Hi John. Thanks for your comment.

Hi Paul. Thanks for your comments. Yes, there is just a hint of finer detail, which is a nice change.

Nice work Ray and it looks to me that you have captured quite an extensive section of the storm. Right now the storm extends so far in longitude that I think it would be impossible to image Saturn and not get some of the storm. Regardless, this is a very good result.

Well done
Regards
Trevor

Hi again Ray. What equipment are you using for your imaging? I know you list an 8"F4 in your sig, so I'll assume that straight off the bat. 5X powermate I'll assume as well.

Anyway, very well done if I may say so, with an 8" F4.

Hi John. I use the 8 inch f4 with a 3x TV Barlow + extension + manual filter wheel to get out to a bit over 4m fl - can't go much longer in fl because I don't get enough photons. Then Astronomik filters and the dmk21. As you know, f4 Newts are very unforgiving, so have fitted a moonlite focuser to make sure that everything remains fairly well aligned, but still have to be very careful with collimation (generally use one of the moons), temperature control and focusing. Thanks for your interest.
regards Ray
