Its just a matter of getting cross-eyed enough.

Ving have you seen the Three D image of M42 posted on the web. I'll have a dig through some old files and see if I can find it. Its a bit harder but well worth the try. Looks fantastic

Nope can't see it...!! Nice pic though.
However I can see Zoro riding a horse carrying a plastic machine gun through the forest. Anyone else pick that up?

Here ya go ving

http://www.starrywonders.com/3dtechnique.html

Of the three links (Elephant Trunk, Orion and Cone Nebula) Orion just blows me away.

The trick for me was to turn off any lights shining on the monitor, sit about 40 - 45 cm away from the screen and *relax* and go cross eyed. Once I had three images I only "focused" on the middle one. And if all else fails you can always follow the instructions.

Really deeeepp man

Good luck

ps the images are a slow load on dialup

Yes.. those 3d images work a treat. Once I had the effect working I used my hands to block the periferal images on the left and right side so I just viewed the combined image. I could hold my focus indefinately as there were no distractions.

Now your talking about Stereo Acurity. Most people have the ability to look at an overlapping set of photographs and make out a three dimensional image. The level to which you can see more stereo than another person is based on you individual acurity. I know about this stuff because when I was in the Army ('81-87) I was a cartographer (map maker) and I worked primarily in photogrammetry ( which involves 3d images of the earth) doing what is called plotting (this job also involved doing a lot of surveying too and I loved that too). You need to be able to see 3d really well so that you can plot contours on maps. Anyway only about half the population has the acurity to plot contours and only 10% of that 50 can do it at a high level. Luckily I was in that 10% because I hated drafting.

So those 3d images are really a snap for me.

regards.
