Losmandy Titan

Hi All,

This top of the range Losmandy mount is a reluctant sale, alas I only have room for one mount in the dome so I'm sure it can be put to good use by another serious astrophotographer. While some would consider the mount as portable (breaks down to two 17kg components), I found it to be an observatory class mount needing a permanent set up. In excellent condition (observatory housed and nurtured), the mount comes with two 9.5kg counterweights and the venerable Losmandy Gemini telescope control system (level 4 - 1.02) supporting PEMPro for periodic error correction enhancements. If you're looking to step up your imaging quality output or start using heavier telescopes (@ longer focal lengths), everyone will tell you that a strong performing mount is key.

Below is additional information on the equatorial head:
  • All machined stainless steel and aluminium, black anodized.
  • Shafts, 1.968" diameter stainless steel tubing, .250" wall thickness.
  • Worm gears, 6.750" diameter, 270 tooth, 7075 aluminium - special coated.
  • Worms, heat treated and ground stainless steel...very smooth.
  • Single piece worm housing construction, double ended, ball bearing supported with adjustable preload.
  • Tracking: +/- 5 arc sec. or better.
  • Low temperature operation: 0 F / -18 C
  • 5.062" diameter needle thrust bearings.
  • 3.500" diameter sealed ball bearings.
  • 3.100" diameter sealed ball bearings for worm gear.
  • Fully locking, unique tangent arm design altitude adjustment, 12-70 degrees, large knob for easy alignment.
  • Laser engraved latitude scale in 2 degree increments...reasonably accurate but you'll need to drift polar align anyway.
  • Single knob azimuth control, bi-directional +/- 10 degrees, X/Y axis leveling bubbles.
  • Variable slip clutch, 6.0" diameter both axes, one knob design...very easy to use.
  • Full 360 degree rotation in both R.A. and DEC...but telescope is likely to hit pier or tripod leg so make sure you set the limits!!
  • Fully enclosed R.A. and DEC. worm and worm gear.
  • Photographic instrument weight capacity 100 lbs / 45kg.
  • Equatorial Head weight 75 lbs / 34kg. Breaks down into R.A. 37.5 lbs / 17kg. & DEC. 37.5 lbs / 17kg.
  • Removable counterweight shaft with safety stop, 1.25" diameter.
  • Includes two 21 lbs / 9.5kg counterweights.
  • Split dovetail saddle plate design, 1.00" X 6.00" X 8.00".
  • Losmandy Gemini level 4 TCS, includes DEC and RA servos and control paddle.
  • Original Titan, not the 50:1 gearbox, but can be retrofitted if you deem it necessary. 18vdc will give you plenty of grunt.
  • Accepts all "D" series dovetail plates.
I will supply with this package an Amalgen 18vdc/5amp commercial grade power supply which provides the Titan with considerable torque/grunt. It is already fitted with a cigarette lighter socket ready for use. To make this mount operational you'll need to supply your own pier or tripod and dovetail plates for your specific OTA configuration. I have the original custom fit styrene boxes so will ship anywhere in AU. Local pick-up/drop-off also an option.

AU$7,200 + shipping **SOLD**

PM for any enquires.

Thanks

Good luck with the sale !

You don't take installments by chance ?

Jase, could you please clarify what (apart from the mount head itself and the 18VDC power supply is included in this? Does it include the tripod and, if not, does it include the pier mounting collar that the mounts sits in?
thanks
Peter.

Hi Peter,

Thanks for your enquiry.

The package comes with:
Losmandy Titan equatorial head (DEC and RA)
Losmandy Gemini TCS with control paddle
Amalgen 18vdc power supply
Cables(ra,dec,pc) and counterweight bar with weights

As mentioned in the original post, the purchaser will need to provide their own pier or tripod. The Losmandy pier mounting plate (MAL) is not included. I actually don't use one, you'll notice in the photos that the mount slides directly into the top of my pier as I had this precision fabricated for maximum stability. The purchaser could either do the same or obtain a MAL.

Please let me know if you have further queries.
