Fishing Time

For all fisho's, it's that time of year for the start of our fishing season down south. I'm taking a break to do some trout fishing at Lake Eildon this weekend. Lokking forward to the start of the snapper run also later on.

I used to go fishing several times a week. Snapper fishing was great.
I still have my hand made rods and a few ABU 7000 reels.

The classic Abu 7000 was a fantastic reel! Don't know if they still make them. I own a couple also and they still work like new, although a bit roughed up cosmetically.

Yeh ! beaut reels. I would never part with them.
Rob, some of the gear I have owned ! ABU 6500's bait casters, Penn lever drags (internationals) in 30-50. Shimano baitcasters, tons of stuff (all sold)
bugger

I recently offloaded a heap of saltwater flyfishing gear.....if you want an expensive hobby other than astronomy then dhave a crack at that!!

G.Loomis 9 Weight GLX Rod = c.$1200
Shilton SL6 Reel - $650
Backing plus Flyline - $200

The rod is top of the line, a dream to cast (nice fast action and heaps of power). Higher end reels can easily go for $1000 upwards, all for a simple direct drive (no gearing) machined and anodized aluminium reel!!
