LMC @ Astrofest

I collected just over 3hrs of data for this one. Still, I'd like to add to it. A work in progress I guess. But this is how it looks so far. I've cropped out a little coma and rotation.

canon 20d
canon 50mm lens
riding on eq5 mount
2.15 minute subs.

DSS
Photoshop cs3

PS. The background gradient is the Brissie skyglow.

great shot JJJ. I ran the jpeg through pixinsight and used dynamic background extraction to redo the image minus the gradient. hope you approve

Good to see you weren't yacking all week, or distracted by all the gadgets Paul and David had going nearby

I had a go as well, I hope you don't mind also. Its a beaut shot. Gradient Xterminator 2X and levels and curves, shadow/highlights, color balance, reduce star size 2x, increase star colour.

I wonder how many hours it would take with a telescope to show the whole LMC like that. It looks like an apple and is almost round. Most images only show 2/3rds of it. Fantastic.

Hey first time I got an attachment in a post, always wondered how others did that!

Greg.

Jeanette,

Great stuff. I want to do a widefield just like that.

Might just do that next time I'm out.

Regards,
Humayun

Very nice Jeanette. Looks like a lot of wide field images will be done with a camera and lens from now on.

Well done and a lovely image to share, Thanks.
