Jupiter + Io, 2 hour animation (15/08/2009)

I stayed at QLD Astrofest for a single night and went straight for Jupiter. I'm stoked with the results considering I only have an 8" newtonian! Never been able to capture detail like this before. I'm questioning whether I can squeeze any more out of this scope.

Details: 8" Newt + vanilla EQ6, SPC900NC + UV/IR filter, 3x Tv Barlow + insane amount of extension (5500mm+ FL). 90sec @ 10fps runs, 2hr animation at 5min intervals.

High-quality B/W animation: Link
Low-quality RGB version: Link
High-quality RGB version: Link (Firefox 3.0+, Opera users only - highly recommended!)

Really nice job there Ash,

Love the animation, you have some very nice detail in there, especially the tiny white ovals in the polar region.

A job very well done.
Regards
Trevor
