Venus, Mars, Mercury and ISS over Brisbane city

Hi all,

I got up early this morning and headed up Mt Coot-tha to photograph the International Space Station passing over the Brisbane CBD. The view also included Venus (at greatest western elongation), Mars and Mercury low on the horizon. First time I've tried Mt Coot-tha as a venue for this sort of thing, and I'll probably go back in 2 weeks time when the crescent Moon joins the 3 planets.

Here are a few images. The first and second show the ISS pass (at 5:07 am), and the other 2 are taken at about 5:25 and 5:35 am.

Thanks for looking!

Cheers,
Stephen

Havent ventured out to spot Mercury yet .... next week.

Hi Stephen

Very nice! Thanks for posting these – I was unaware of the event and I’m glad I was able to see it without the early start!

Gee, why is Brisbane so blazingly lit up at that time of the morning???

Cheers

Dennis

Yes, I would have thought that 5am would be the minimum amount of light pollution. You can see why the Brisbane skies aren't very dark!

Cheers,
Stephen
