Finally a couple of Lulins from last Friday night

Hi,

I finally got around to processing some shots of Lulin from last Friday night.
First one is a crop from a wide view taken through a 40D with 100mm lens piggybacked. 16x60sec + darks & lights.
2nd shot is through a 100ed. 20x30sec + darks & lights.

Stacked in DSS then photoshop (learning curves and levels etc as I go ).

I'm impressed! Very nice images.
How do you manage this dark sky from your location?
I was looking at Lulin last night, but all I saw was a smudge!

Jakob.

Hi Jakob,

Its the light pollution that kept me to the short exposures (just more of them). Attached is the stacked but unprocessed wide 60sec wide angle shot that I took that night. Its brighter at the bottom of the image which I am putting down to not getting good flats which is why I cropped it. My photoshops skills are not good enough yet to fix it. But I'm still working on that.

I tried longer exposures but the shot became very washed (white) out.
Maybe time to look into some filters.

Nice images Brett,
Good effort from your location, like the wide field shot.

Regards
Trevor
